Neuharth was born June 14, 1909 at Eureka to Jacob G. and Fredericka (Aman) Neuharth. Jacob G. Neuharth was born February 10, 1884 at Menno, and Fredericka Aman was born January 14, 1887. Fred was raised on a farm in the Rosenthal Township, seven miles northeast of Eureka. Fred's brothers and sisters are Edward (deceased), Emil, Ruben of Eureka, Henry of Aberdeen, Ann Weishaar, Bertha Krause Hauck of Aberdeen and Esther Pfeiffer of Eureka. Edna J. Schnabel was born May 6, 1912 at Eureka to Henry H. and Pauline (Berreth) Schnabel. Henry H. Schnabel was born April 24, 1887 at Eureka. Pauline Berreth was born May 2, 1890 at Scotland, South Dakota. Edna was raised on a farm eleven miles northeast of Eureka in Odessa Township. Edna's brothers and sisters are Adeline Neuharth Mehlhaff, Otto, Edmund, all of Eureka; Alvin of Aberdeen; Gerda Rieger of Aberdeen; Reinhold of Lodi, California and Elmer (deceased). Fred and Edna were married on December 18, 1932. They farmed twelve miles northeast of Eureka until 1947. They moved to the Christ H. Aman farm seven miles northeast of Eureka and farmed until the fall of 1972. They moved to Eureka and resided at the experiment farm. Fred served as county commissioner for a number of years. He was a Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, elder and deacon at the Reformed Church. Fred died August 23, 1973. Edna was active in the Reformed Ladies Aid. She died May 14, 1984. Fred and Edna had three children. Delaine was born February 27, 1941 and married Duane Jantzen on June 24, 1960. They live in Dublin, California. Their children are Darel of Riverdale, California, Debbie Gravance of Laton, California and Dalene of Dublin. Carol was born June 17, 1943 and married Arnold Lutz on July 31, 1960. They live on a farm southwest of Eureka. Their children are Kip of Java, Becky Hahne of Minneapolis and Wendy Jo of Java. Robert Neuharth was born December 7, 1947. He lives in Eureka. His children are Heidi and Shane of Eureka.
