Wise) worked for Roy Kline during the three summersimmediately after high school graduation. Roy worked for the PortageCounty Engineer, Paul Schaffer. I learned a lot from Roy and had avery good time working with him. One short anecdote:During the last summer I worked for Roy, 1967, he asked me to learn tooperate a medium sized roller, used in surface treating roads. One ofRoy's permanent employees protested, telling Roy that he was a tankdriver in the army and that he was more qualified to run the rollerthan I was. Roy replied, telling this employee that I operated farmmachinery for many years and that he would much rather I operate theroller and take care of it like a piece of farm machinery, than tohave him drive the roller like a "damn tank".
