Hopfauf PFC USA --- Josephine Hopfauf, 76, Bismarck, died July 8, 2003, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a Catholic Daughters rosary and vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Vistiation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Josephine Friesz was born April 12, 1927, to Liborius and Rose (Kuhn) Friesz, in Flasher, N.D. She was raised and educated in Fallon. She married Leo Hopfauf on Nov. 18, 1947, in Flasher. Following their marriage, they moved to Mandan. In the 1950's, they moved to Billings, Mont., and Hardin, Mont., in 1958. While living in Hardin, Josephine worked at the school cafeteria. They moved to Baker, Mont., in 1970, where they owned and operated the Montana Motel. They retired in 1978, and moved to Glendive, Mont. In 2002, they moved to Bismarck. They enjoyed dancing and playing cards with their many friends. Josephine enjoyed ceramics, and she owned a ceramic shop in Hardin and Baker, where she taught ceramics. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Glendive Court. Josephine loved to garden, sew, and crochet. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She would always send food home when you visited her. Her family was very important to her; she enjoyed attending the various events her grandchildren were involved in. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Leonard.
