- BIOGRAPHY:
My Mom
Mom was so many things to so many people. I had a lot of respect for her because of the life we had. It could not have been easy raising 11 children. She was married to Barney Clark. Bonnie, John {Skip}, Laurie, Sharon were born. Mom moved in and lived with George Edward Ratcliffe. George was father to Susan, David, mark, Becky, and Matt. I do not have a lot of information on why they never married. The best I have is what was told to me by other family members. I also have nothing to defend why they split up. amom ended up marrying Stewart Washburn and along came my two little sisters Joanne and Jannette. Keeping a roof over us all and food in our tummies must have been very difficult for her. She somehow managed to do it though. Everyone of us grew up respecting life in general. We all have our own little stories and tales to tell. We all remember situations differently. If you talk to the oldest Bonnie she saw and felt one thing if you speak to the middle children throughout the various years you may get another opinion. I truely believe my mom did the best she could with what life threw her way. Lifes experiences made her a very strong independant person. She was a hard worker who knew right from wrong and tried to instill that in her children. We all had our stuggles but for the most part we grew up good people. We all have faults of course and some more than others but life goes on. I believe my mom made me the strong independant woman I am today. She gave me the drive I needed to make it in todays world. Nothing is handed to you. You have to work for it. Thanks mom for that life lesson because I hope I was able to hand that lesson down to my kids. I think I was successful in that and that you would be proud of your two grandsons. You never really got a chance to know them as they were just babies when you left us. I wish you could see all the grandchildren and great grandchildren who are here because of you. I know you are looking down on all of us with a huge smile on your face. I am glad you finally agreed to be baptised and I happen to baptized at the same time. Something I will never forget.
Well here we all are trying to reconnect Becky did a good thing here, and I for one am getting a kick out of everyones stories and memories. Wish i had some of theirs, I must of been the negitive child, Anyway things i remember when i was small was the garden in Rushville and the house next to the grocery store finding a buttlers pantry getting stuck in it and finding money and going to the store and buying gum and hiding it afterwards Dave going to hopital and getting his stomach pumped Xmas time with Dad and Mom in Rushville, living with aunt Kate for a short summer getting poision ivy and the measles at the same time..Me that is...getting the begebbies scared out of us by our cousin Shierly at night time sleeping in the attic. the train next to their house and us kids waving at the conductor and he throwing out candies till mom caught us..and our vine tree fort. Living in the blue house next to the rail road tracks next to a stream where we use to walk the stream on an animal trail and down the tracks when we could sneak away running away from Skip and trying to stay out of his way.starting kindengarden and going to first grade in Rushville Dad leaving and stewart moving in.Moving to Geneva I was 6 yrs old...1grade again..that yr....Mrs Simpson my teacher for two yrs living below us in a trailer home. Mrs Rush my third grade teacher..Emily Buell neighbor girl who was close enough to play with but really was some one elses best friend lol..riding the bus to school being called hillbillies cuz we lived on that hill. the Snow...we use to go out into the cow fields and sled on those hills the barn fun and the fruit trees and corn field the forts we made in the clover and got into trouble for by the land lord. the Lake living on Seneca lake was one of our finest play times. One Xmas Bonnie gave us there and the trip to the circus. the Man we let in for breakfast (Hobo) remember that ? we shared oatmeal with him and mom was livid with us after ward...for letting in a stranger..I think i have most of my memories there a good time in our lives we moved then to Leroy i was 10 and in 4th grade. made one friend Linda she was the landlords grand-daughter, but this was and interesting house had lots of space and rooms and floors and we had a big field of forest behind us and we played there alot.we played at the comstocks and railroad trains climbed into a caboose and rode a few too..climbed the pallets and drove the gaurds nuts, 5th grade i started to like boys and ran the streets as much as i could with Dee Dee Cortchameila and her brother Mike spent alot of time at the quarry..with the Novak boys Leroy was a great town for holloween we use to get three four bags each, was one of our best times ..6th grade was the yr we moved to Wyoming NY that summer we lived near the river and we swam there and caught crawdads and found snakes under the porch Bill ran over his dog with the tracktor we didn't live there very long. and We moved on to Bloomfield, Holcomb . /we actually stayed there for the rest of my highschool yrs.i graduated there and had a simple teenage life (this is where most of my negitive feeling are so won't go into this i want to keep it as up beat as i can) we all had our hard times and i know none of the others know why or where i got my feeling from and iam glad they have their positive one's I don't remember mom in most of this after moving to Geneva she was gone alot if not working she was out with stewart when we went to Leroy i remember the spankings lol the go get your own switch ones lol and the girls lording it over us (the older girls)..Holcomb well thats when i was a teenager and Mom and I hit heads quite abit but not anything out of the ordinary for mother and daughter..the worst was making me have an abortion then letting me marry 6 months later...but such as it was i moved on got married had a child moved to the west coast and started a new life. I moved back twice and realized i loved the west more and returned been there for 27 yrs now. my boys didn't get to know mom much they were little 3/5 when i left NY for the last time, I moved on went to school/college drafting (i didn't finish that course) and then to beauty school became a Hair stylist nail tec electrolis barber all five licences We lived in Idaho and then went across the state line to WA we have been here for 17 yrs. i now have two grand children one on the way and a good life...I love you all and I hope to get to know you better through your memories and stories ,maybe yours will jog my own ......Sue
