[Church was in the Pfalf-Palatinate region of what is now the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate.] OBITUARY: The following is the obituary published in Oskaloosa unknown newspaper August 24, 1895. Mrs. Elizabeth Blattner died very suddenly of neuralgia of the heart Friday evening about half past five o'clock. She had been in the best of health up to Friday morning, when she complained of severe neuralgia pains in her shoulder and side. She was subject to similar attacks and her illness did not occasion alarm. The lady was confined to her bed and the usual medicines were administered at stated intervals. Mrs. Chas. Blattner was caring for her at the time, and going into her room to give medicine at 5:30 the old lady did not reply when spoken to. Mrs. Blattner thought her sleeping and going to the bed she was shocked to find the form cold in death. The disease had reached the heart and death had probably been without a struggle. Mrs. Elizabeth Blattner was 69 years, 8 months 9 days old, and resided at her home, 322 D Street North. She leaves two sons, Fred and Charles Blattner, and three daughters, Mrs. Lou Blattner and Mrs. J. E. Parks of this city, and Mrs. T. W. Dougherty of Ottumwa. None of the daughters were present at the time of the lady's death.(*) The funeral will take place from the residence at 2:30 p. m. Sunday, August 25, and burial will be made in Forest cemetery. Mrs. Blattner was of the sturdy German stock of the pioneer days of the country. Her family has been representative in business circles and in citizenship and the name is widely known. The announcement of the lady's death will be received with general regret. * (Error? - Mrs. Chas. Blattner was her daughter, Louise (aka Lou), who is the one and same Mrs. Lou Blattner.)
