No occupation is listed.

Married by Rev. Henry A. Spengler, George Froehlich and Edna Herman witnesses. Jacob's sister Edna and brother John married Jacob's wife Clara's brother Jacob and sister Anne D. respectively.

Owned and operated Herman's bar/restaurant on the corner of Linden Boulevard and Elmont Road, Elmont, NY.

The day Jake died (Saturday, April 11, 1953) he had just gotten back from having an ice cream and declared how good he felt. According to his daughter Ruth, she telephoned the house from her home in Lynbrook. As her mother Clara was outside at the time, Jake got up to answer the phone and died from his third heart attack. Clara found him on the floor as she came in to answer the still ringing phone. Ruth then called the doctor who said he had office patients to attend to first. Ruth rushed over to the house in Malverne and was directed to get the priest from the church down the block. By the time the doctor finally arrived, Jake had passed.
