William F. was one of the first in the family to move westward. Sometime before 1869 he moved to Indianapolis, and there on 11 Aug 1869 he married Dora Elizabeth Schaub from Monroe County, Ohio. They had 9 children all born in Indianapolis. Indianapolis had a large German population, and German culture was thriving in the 1870's and 1880's. There were several German language newspapers, singing societies, and political clubs, plus German language insturction in the schools. The Delbrugge family lived in a working class German neighborhood, where William was a fireman and later a bartender. During WWI, as Germans faced increasing discrimination, some branches of the family americanized their name to Delbrook.

Mary Esther Delbrugge
Delbrugge, Mary Esther, age 92, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, a former 30 year resident of Cape Coral, Florida, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Park Health Center.
Mary was born May 28, 1915 in Martins Ferry, Ohio daughter of the late Albert and Edna Yahn Tighe.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Delbrugge; a grandson, Matthew Berus; two brothers, Albert and Harold Tighe.
Surviving are her son, William Delbrugge and his wife, Ann of Massillon, Ohio; her daughter, Joyce Berus of St. Clairsville; three grandchildren, Brent Delbrugge, Christine Jenewein and Michael Delbrugge; and four great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville with a Vigil Service at 3:45 p.m.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville with Father Anthony R. Batt the celebrant. Private burial will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church, 230 W. Main St., St. Clairsville, OH 43950.

Genelda L. Waligura, 68, of Ferry Street, Clarington, Ohio, died Friday, June 1, 2007 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, W.Va. She was born June 1, 1939 in Clarington, the daughter of the late Edward and Laura Delbrugge Wright. She was a retired nurse for Dr. A. J. Antalis; a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #533 in Clarington; a former mayor of Clarington; and attended Immanuel United Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Wright.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Waligura; two sons: Joey (Tamie) Waligura of Gig Harbor, Wash.; and David Waligura of Clarington; a daughter, Stacy Waligura of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a brother, Kent Wright of Woodsfield, Ohio; a sister, Sharon Liskanich of Powhatan Point, Ohio; four grandchildren: Jessica Waligura, David, Cloey and Matthew Dickens; and a great-grandson, Alex Waligura.

Pauline D. Kidd, 73
Funeral services for Pauline D. Kidd, 73, of rural Bippus, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Johnâ??s United Church of Christ in Bippus.
Visitation hours at Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Mrs. Kidd died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Florida.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Johnâ??s United Church of Christ in Bippus and a former member of the North Highlands Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne. She also was a member of the Bippus Parade Committee, Huntington Garden Club and the Bippus Home Economics Club.
She was born in Wheeling, W.Va., July 6, 1927, a daughter of Bernard and Geraldine White Delbrugge. Her marriage in Wheeling on Aug. 29, 1948 was to Malcolm H. Kidd, who survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Thomas M. of Indianapolis; two daughters, Mrs. William (Lorna) Stephan of Huntington and Mrs. Phillip (Marcia) Douglass of Bluffton; a sister, Marion Kidd of Florida; and 10 grandchildren.
Rev. Larry Holderbaum and Rev. Stan Williams will officiate at services a nd interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at Bippus.
